This Privacy Policy explains how One at a Time collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use our website, apps, WhatsApp experiences, AI Matchmaker, and related services (the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1) What This Policy Covers
This policy covers:
• information you provide to us,
• information we collect automatically when you use the Service,
• information we receive from third parties you connect (e.g., Instagram/LinkedIn),
• how we use data for verification, matching, safety, and Partner Café date coordination,
• your choices and rights.
This policy does not cover third-party platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, payment processors, Partner Cafés) and their own privacy practices.
2) Who Can Use the Service
The Service is intended for adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). If we learn we collected data from a minor, we shall delete it.
3) Information We Collect and Why we Collect
3.1 A) Information you provide
When you sign up or use the Service, you may provide:
• Identity & profile info: name, age, gender (if you choose), photos, bio, city/area, languages, linked social media information, Geolocation Information, Device information, messages
• Preferences: what you’re looking for, dealbreakers, lifestyle preferences, date preferences
• Onboarding answers: responses you give to help the Matchmaker understand you
• Feedback & outcomes: feedback after introductions/dates, ratings, notes, “what worked/what didn’t”
• Support & reports: messages to support, abuse reports, screenshots submitted for reporting
• Partner Café preferences: preferred cafés, time windows, dietary preferences (if you share)
• Any other information you choose to share while using the Service
Please avoid sharing sensitive data (government IDs, passwords, financial info) in chats or bios.
B) Information from connected third-party accounts (Instagram/LinkedIn)
If you connect Instagram and/or LinkedIn, we may receive basic permitted account/profile information, such as:
• profile name, username/handle, profile photo, public profile fields
• verification/consistency signals (e.g., whether the profile appears real/active)
• other basic info you authorize through the connection flow
We use this primarily for verification and fraud/impersonation reduction, and secondarily to improve match quality.
C) Information collected automatically
We may collect:
• Device and usage data: device type, OS, app version, language, time zone
• Log data: timestamps, feature usage, interactions, crash logs, diagnostics
• Approximate location: based on IP or device settings (not precise GPS unless you explicitly allow it)
• Cookies/trackers (web): to keep you logged in, prevent fraud, and analyze performance
D) Payments and transaction data
If you pay a Match Fee:
• we (or our payment processor) process payment details
• we typically receive payment status, transaction IDs, timestamps, and plan/amount
• we do not want or store full card details if handled by a payment processor
E) Safety and integrity data
We may collect:
• risk signals to detect impersonation, scams, harassment, or abuse
• repeated account patterns, suspicious device/IP patterns
• report history and enforcement actions
3.2 Why we Collect
In this Privacy Policy, your "Personal Data" means information or pieces of information that could allow you to be identified. We process your personal data for us to be able to carry out our contractual commitments towards you. We use this information to assist you in your search for a suitable partner in terms of age, gender, height, interests etc. In addition we process Personal Data to comply with legal obligations.
Sometimes we need your consent to process Personal Data, such as for sending you newsletters and promotions. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time for processing your location, however, this will not affect any of the prior processing of your Personal Data.
4) How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
A) Provide and operate the Service
• create and manage your account
• verify profiles and approve “Verified Profiles”
• enforce “one profile at a time”
• enable mutual matching
• coordinate date curation at Partner Cafés
• enable Masked Chat (typically ~1 hour before the date)
B) AI Matchmaker personalization
One at a Time is an AI-first service. We use your information to:
• understand preferences and compatibility signals
• curate introductions
• suggest date logistics and prompts
• improve match quality over time
AI can make mistakes. Recommendations are not guarantees.
C) Safety, fraud prevention, and enforcement
• detect and prevent impersonation, scams, harassment, and abuse
• enforce our Terms (including “no sharing user photos outside the platform without consent”)
• investigate reports and take action (restriction, suspension, bans)
• protect users and the Service from harm
D) Customer support and communications
• respond to support requests and safety reports
• send essential updates (verification status, match updates, date logistics)
• notify you about changes to policies or material service updates
E) Analytics and improvement
• diagnose bugs, monitor performance, and improve user experience
• measure effectiveness of verification and safety controls
F) Promotions and coupons (if applicable)
• administer the first-100-users ₹500 coupon (or future offers)
• apply coupon rules and prevent promo abuse
5) Why We’re Allowed to Process Data
Depending on your jurisdiction, we process your data based on:
• Contract necessity: to provide the Service you requested
• Consent: for optional fields, marketing (if any), and connecting third-party accounts
• Legitimate interests: safety, fraud prevention, product improvement, analytics
• Legal obligations: responding to lawful requests or compliance requirements
You can withdraw consent for optional processing by changing settings or contacting us (some features may stop working).
6) How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share data in these limited ways:
A) With Partner Cafés (date coordination)
To curate/coordinate dates at Partner Cafés and support coupon redemption, we may share limited information, such as:
• reservation details (date/time)
• number of people (typically two)
• coupon eligibility or redemption code/status
• minimal coordination info required for the date experience
We do not share your direct contact details by default.
B) With service providers (processors)
We use vendors to run the Service (e.g., hosting, analytics, messaging infrastructure, payments, fraud tools). They may process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
C) With third-party platforms you connect
When you connect Instagram/LinkedIn, those platforms may receive information about your connection to our Service as part of their authorization flow. Their policies control what they do with it.
D) With law enforcement / legal requests
We may share information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
• comply with law, legal process, or government requests
• protect safety, rights, property, or prevent harm
• investigate fraud, security issues, or policy violations
E) Business transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate protections.
7) Masked Chat and Contact Details
• Masked Chat is designed to avoid sharing phone numbers/emails by default.
• Users are prohibited from sharing or distributing other users’ photos/content outside the platform without consent.
• We may apply automated moderation and abuse detection to Masked Chat for safety.
8) Data Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for:
• operating the Service (matching, verification, date coordination)
• safety, fraud prevention, and enforcement
• legal and compliance obligations
Typical retention logic:
• Active accounts: retained while your account is active
• Deleted accounts: we may retain limited data (e.g., logs, enforcement records, transaction records) for a reasonable period to prevent fraud, comply with law, or resolve disputes
• Reports/safety events: may be retained longer for safety and legal reasons
Exact retention periods may vary by data type and law.
9) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect data (access controls, monitoring, encryption where appropriate). However, no system is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk and should protect your account and devices.

Disconnecting LinkedIn : You can disconnect third-party accounts by contacting us. Disconnecting may limit access to the Service.

We may use cookies and similar technologies to:
• keep you logged in
• protect against fraud
• measure performance and usage

13) Marketing Communications (Optional)
If we send promotional messages, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link (email) or the controls provided in the Service. We may still send essential service and safety communications.

16)What We Don’t Do
To make our privacy stance clear, here are things One at a Time does not do:
A) We don’t sell your personal data.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties.
B) We don’t share your phone number or direct contact details by default.
Our flow uses Masked Chat for last-minute logistics, and direct contact details are not revealed unless you choose to share them (and you are discouraged from doing so before the date).
C) We don’t allow users to share other users’ photos or identities outside the platform without consent.
Sharing, reposting, forwarding, or publishing another user’s pictures or profile content outside One at a Time without explicit consent is prohibited and can lead to bans and legal action.
D) We don’t run government-grade background checks.
Verification is a trust filter using permitted signals (including third-party account connections), but it is not a guarantee of identity or conduct.
E) We don’t guarantee matches, dates, or outcomes.
We curate introductions and support date coordination, but we cannot guarantee compatibility, chemistry, or behavior.
F) We don’t read your messages routinely as humans.
The Matchmaker is AI-first and automated. Human review may happen only in limited cases (e.g., safety reports, suspected fraud, legal compliance, or technical issues) as described in this policy.
G) We don’t share more with Partner Cafés than necessary.
For date coordination and coupon redemption, we share only the minimum required details (e.g., reservation timing, party size, coupon validity/status). We do not share your direct contact details by default.
H) We don’t ask for sensitive personal information in chats.
We do not want passwords, bank details, full card numbers, or government ID numbers through chat. If someone asks you for these, report it immediately.
I) We don’t keep your data forever without reason.
We retain data only as long as needed to operate the Service, maintain safety, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations.
K) We don’t permit scraping or harvesting user data.
Any attempt to scrape, bulk collect, or reverse engineer user information or the Service is prohibited.

One at a Time, including the accompanying website and AI Agents deployed through messaging platforms (such as WhatsApp), is owned and operated by One at a Time.
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to make changes to the terms of use and privacy policy at any time. The most updated version is available on our Website at all times. Please check the terms of use and privacy policy periodically for changes as all modifications are effective upon publication. Continued use of the One at a time and website after revision indicates the user's acceptance of the terms of use and privacy policy.
